Deck Synergy Tool

The Talespinner deck synergy tool helps when a reward screen offers three reasonable cards and your HP bar says you cannot afford a mistake. Flash Cat’s roguelike mixes hero-exclusive tags, neutral staples, upgrades, and charm payoffs—more than two hundred cards across a full release. Written Cards Tier List guidance breaks ties on average, but your current run may already be a Jade Dragon shell, a weak spot rush, or a tempo line described on Builds Tier Guidance.

Use this page on Steam or Nintendo Switch planning breaks. It does not modify game files or predict seeds.

What the tool checks

The helper asks which tags you are building toward—examples include Jade banking, Dragon payoffs, Fury bursts, weak spot setup, block stabilization, draw, charm synergies, and companion slots. It then scores hypothetical rewards against those tags so you can see mismatches before you click.

Gyokushin players should enable Jade and Dragon tags by default; see Gyokushin for mechanic definitions. Unnamed launch heroes should pick tags matching Hero Comparison archetypes until dedicated pages exist.

When to open the tool

Shop nodes and elite rewards — The highest-value moment. You already spent Story Points getting here; a mispick costs more than skipping the tool.

Post-channel turns — Gyokushin often holds Jade and motes simultaneously. The tool clarifies whether a new card helps spend Jade or only clogs hands.

Pre-boss pivots — Two nodes before a finale, verify you own both block and win-condition tags. Cross-read How to Beat Bosses if block tags are missing.

Limits

Patch notes on Updates can change card costs overnight—tool constants may lag until wiki volunteers sync them. Demo history already moved Dragon and Fury numbers; treat mismatches as a signal to trust in-game tooltips first.

The tool also cannot know hidden enemy intents. Sometimes a B-tier defensive pick is correct because the next fight applies Prank or Nasty Cut, not because synergy math says so.

Tag reference for common builds

Jade banking — Prefer channel outlets, Jade totals on card text, and payoffs that spend Jade without motes. Skip rewards that only consume motes when your hand is already Jade-heavy.

Dragon density — Count how many Dragon Cards you own before drafting more finishers you cannot pay for. Pair with Gyokushin notes on Death Between Heartbeats-style finishers after patches.

Weak spot rush — Weight spot reveal, Exposed bonuses, and boss telegraphs from Combat Basics. Multi-enemy fights downgrade cleave-less spot tools.

Tempo — Favor cheap damage and draw until the act boss; revisit block tags before finales.

Charm and companions — Enable charm tags when you committed on Companions Tier List spirits that need event chains.

After you pick

Log the card name in your notes and compare results on the next elite. If the tool said “low synergy” but the card fixed an immediate telegraph, trust the fight result and update your tags—tier lists on Tier List Hub are guidance, not veto power.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Talespinner questions.

Does the deck synergy tool store my deck online?

No. Inputs stay in your browser session unless future versions state otherwise.

Which hero should I select in the tool?

Pick tags matching your hero—Gyokushin uses Jade and Dragon; tempo heroes weight cheap strikes; control heroes weight charm tags.

Can I use this for companion picks?

Use companion tags when comparing spirits; full spirit rankings live on Companions Tier List.

Is synergy scoring official?

No. It is fan wiki guidance to structure decisions, not Flash Cat or Kwalee data.
